David L. Long

David L. Long, 73, of rural Petersburg and formerly of Smithfield, passed away at 11:15 AM Saturday May 28, 2022 at his home.

He was born October 10, 1948 at Canton, the son of Floyd and Alberta (Lamb) Long. He married Bonnie Ritchey on April 14, 1997 at Prairie City. She survives with four step children, Timothy (Hannah) Lotz of Hannibal, MO; Lukas (Carla) Lotz of Hannibal, MO; Hannah (Daniel II) Gray of Tampa, FL; and Micah Lotz of Kansas City, MO; four step grandchildren, Emilee Lotz, Thaddeus Lotz, Kaylee Lotz, and Ethan Lotz, two sisters, Mary Burroughs of San Diego, CA; and Karen Long of Rio Vista, CA, and one niece, Laura Beck. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Dale Long.
David farmed in the Smithfield area many years, and was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, and the American Angus Cattle Association. He was an ordained minister and was a member of the Radiant Church in Springfield, where he served as an elder. David was an active missionary overseas for several years.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 4, 2022 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment of ashes will immediately follow the service at Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Association for Down Syndrome.
