Wayne Helle


Cuba- Wayne Dwight Helle, 79, of Cuba, passed away Tuesday January 26, 2016 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

He was born April 25, 1936 at rural Smithfield, the son of Charlie and Ethel (Worley) Helle. He married Betty McDaniels. He is survived by his children, Cathy Kellner and Jimmy Helle of Ohio, Kenny Helle and Brian Helle of Georgia, Louanne Malcom of Kentucky, one sister, Beulah Walton of Cuba, one brother, Franklin (Donna) Helle of Lewistown, one sister in law, Dorla Helle of Cuba, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Helle, seven grandchildren, two sisters, Laverne Fidler and Ilena Helle, two brothers, Elgin Helle and Clifford Helle, and on sister in law, Doris Helle.

Wayne was a farm worker, and had also worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, and other factories in Ohio. He enjoyed singing and listening to country and western music. While in the nursing home he enjoyed playing bingo and won many stuffed animals. He was known for his smile and bright blue eyes.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, and burial will be in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayberg Nursing Home.
