Juanita Swast


Canton – Juanita L. (Bybee) Swast, 94, of Canton passed away on January 4, 2016, at home.
She was born May 20, 1921, in Lewistown to John C. “Jack” and Nellie Ora Moore Bybee.  They preceded her in death.  She married Anthony J. Swast on July 17, 1943.  He preceded her in death on July 19, 1990.  Also preceding her in death is one great-granddaughter, Penny Grace Litle; four brothers, Paul, Virgil, Clarence “Zeke”, and William Bybee; and five sisters, Thelma Bybee, Opal Bybee, Gretchen Standard, Pauline Werry, and Mary Jane Hobbs.
Surviving are two daughters, Marianne (Carl) Brown, with whom she resided, and Teresa Schoon of Canton; grandchildren Angela Brown, Lisa Brown, John (Errin) Schoon, Emily (Cass) Litle; great-grandchildren, Samantha (Jeremy) Lowe, Caitlin Brown, Parker Schoon, and Trinity Scalf; several loving and wonderful nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Juanita graduated from Canton High School in 1939.  She worked at Caterpillar and later retired from K-Mart with 37 years of service.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Croation Fraternal Union #367, Altar & Rosary Society, and the Canton Moose Lodge.  She volunteered at the American Red Cross, Christian Services and St. Mary’s Food Pantry.  She loved cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren, dancing, crocheting, playing cards, and working cross word puzzles.  Juanita was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt.  She was a great joy to all who knew her because of her good nature and sense of humor.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.  Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Canton.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry or to St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
