Roddy “Rod” Paul Gosnell, 75, of Taylorville, passed away peacefully at 2:05 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on October 2, 1948 in Springfield, Illinois to Paul and Eleanor Mae (Rochester) Gosnell.Rod is survived by his three children, Scott (Lisa) Gosnell, Corey (Kim) Gosnell, and Aaron (Rani) Gosnell; grandchildren, Grace Gosnell, Griffin Gosnell, and Sloan Gosnell; sister, Connie (Jim) Whitehead; brother-in-law, Charlie Hughes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Hughes.
Rod was an extremely proud father and grandpa. He loved getting to spend time with his granddaughter, Grace, when he was snow-birding in Arizona, and seeing his grandchildren Griffin and Sloan grow up in Illinois. Rod loved to travel, especially on road trips to see his sons. He loved to cook and always enjoyed finding new places to eat. He was very knowledgeable and could be relied on for even the most challenging of trivia questions or random facts. In his free time, he enjoyed working on puzzles, sharing family stories, and chatting about his family history. He will be deeply missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private burial will take place at a later date.
