He was born May 22, 1940 at Canton the son of Herman and Mildred (Gibson) Jones. He married Elsie Grace Hughes on September 23, 1967 in Canton. She survives along with four children, Larry E Jones Jr., Jonathan Jones, and Troy Jones all of Havana, and Lucinda K. (Dana) Lynn of Virginia, two granddaughters, Katlyn (Chris) Holt of Havana, and Casey (Monty Walker fiancé) Mann of Virginia, two great grandsons, Atreus Walker and Maxwell Holt, siblings, Rosie (Bill) Landis of Morristown, IN; and Ricky (Kathy) Wilson of Canton. Preceding him in death were his parents, and siblings, Alice Wilson, Herman Jones Jr., Leroy Jones, Arlene Stuckey, Carolyn Stuckey, Susan Smith.
Larry attended the Havana Nazarene Church. He read the bible every morning. His favorite books were Psalms and I Corinthians 13. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1959 to 1962. Larry was an excellent mechanic and maintained his own vehicles. He worked construction. He enjoyed tinkering with vehicles, fishing and hunting. When waiting at a stop sign for cars to go by Larry would say what are we having here a parade, and his oldest granddaughter Katlyn picked that comment up. His youngest granddaughter Casey wouldn’t let anyone hold her but Larry unless of course he wasn’t there, then someone else could hold her. His oldest great grandson Atreus and Pop Pop Larry often raided the refrigerator, but they both usually ate fruit. The youngest great grandson Maxwell just wasn’t old enough yet to get into mischief with Pop Pop.
Cremation will be accorded. There will be no visitation or services per Larry’s request. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at henrylange.com.
