He was born on February 18, 1951 in Canton.
Gordon worked for Midland Coal Company at MECCO Mine as a welder in Victoria, IL. He was proud to be called a coal miner. He later worked as a welder for International Harvester in Canton. He had a passion for racing. He raced at several central Illinois race tracks in the 1970’s including Shaheen’s Springfield Speedway. He worked as a guard at the pit gate entrance at Spoon River Speedway. Several years ago, he prepared the track at the Lincoln Speedway.
A service will be held at a later date.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
