Lois M. Bastien, 77, of Havana, passed away at her home at 6:37 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was born on May 23, 1947 in Pekin, Illinois to James and Lelia (Williams) Garman. She married Stephen Bastien on October 22, 1967 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2015.Lois is survived by her children, Mathieu (Lynn) Bastien of Mapleton and Jason (Georgine) Bastien of Havana; and grandchildren, Brant, Austin, Natalie, and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Lois graduated from Easton High School in 1965 and Midstate College of Commerce in 1966. Before getting married, she worked for Illinois Blueprint in Peoria. She then worked for AgRain, which later became Kifco, for 32 years. She and her husband started The Cellular Connection in 1989, which they later renamed Bastien Wireless. Lois was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Havana, where she was very active. She was President of the United Methodist Women for 3 years, formed a group called Merry Widows, and helped establish Emmanuel’s Closet. She was also a member of PEO and a past member of Beta Sigma Phi.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. also at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with Pastor Jon Gainer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
Memorial donations may be made in Lois’s name to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, Child Life Department. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
