Gale E. Roosa, 84, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 12:22 pm on Friday, May 31, 2024 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born on January 28, 1940, the son of James and Mildred (Parr) Roosa. Gale married Linda Foster on June 17, 1961 in Astoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three children; Gina (and Mike) Simpson of Lewistown, IL, Annisa Hamm of Canton, IL, and Joel (and Kara) Roosa of Morton, IL, six grandchildren; Ian Simpson, Chance (and Ashley) Simpson, Emma Hamm, Max Roosa, Miley Roosa, and Mackenzie Roosa, and his sister, Dixie (and Gene) Snyder of East Peoria.
He is preceded in death by his daughter; Londa Bollinger.
Gale served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968.
Gale retired from International Harvester. He was also a welder, farmer and truck driver.
He was a member of the Astoria American Legion Post#25, Summum Christian Church, Fulton County American Legion, and the Fulton County 40/8 Voyager 812. Gale enjoyed collecting toy tractors and loved his dog, Tilly.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ken Peterson will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, June 3, 2024 at the funeral home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post#25. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.
