James E. White

On June 4 our beloved father, James E. White, age 81, peacefully passed away at Clayburg Nursing Facility while on hospice care from Willow Ridge Hospice.

He was born in Avon, Illinois to Robert and Alzaida (Berry) White on September 11, 1942. Growing up he developed a fascination with tinkering on toys and later cars and farm equipment. He loved everything that involved being outdoors and working on the farm. He graduated from Canton High School and was a member of the Order of the Freemasons. He worked at Keefauver Grain in Fiatt for over thirty years, Crawford's in Canton, and County Market in Farmington. But his favorite job of all time was being a grandpa.

Everyone who knew Jim knew that he was an extremely kind, laid back, gentle man who greeted everyone with that infectious smile of his. He loved the family pets and is leaving behind his loving sidekick Sadie, his cat. He was a man who loved his kids and grandkids more than anything. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Christiansen of The Villages, FL, his son, Chris White of Los Angeles, CA and grandkids Olivia, Isabelle, Kyle, Ryan, Anthony and Lauren. Jim also leaves behind a brother, Robert White of Ellisville, IL, his former spouse, Kathy White of Ellisville, IL and many nieces and nephews. He will be forever in their hearts and missed every day.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James White Jr.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Family House Peoria. This was a place his family was able to utilize during Jim's hospital visits.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
