Pat was born on February 27, 1933 in South Bend, IN to Joseph D. and Jessie (Zigmont) Horvath. She married Bill Yocum on July 1, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Teresa Pollitt and brother Rev. Richard Horvath.
Surviving is her son Tom (Cindy) Yocum of Canton, four grandchildren; Jeremy (Annie) Pollitt and Josh (Susan) Pollitt both of Colorado, Trina (Josh) Jochums of Canton, and Casie (Scott) Phegley of Peoria, nine great-grandchildren; Trevor (Katelyn) Pollitt, Tanner Pollitt, Tess Pollitt and Blayden Pollitt all of Colorado, Caleb Jochums, Ethan Jochums and Elena Jochums all of Canton, and Logan Phegley and Benjamin Phegley both of Peoria, and one great-great-grandson Clive Pollitt.
Pat left high school at the age of 16 to work at the Canton Overall Factory for four years, Singer Sewing Company for seven years, and Jack and Bill’s clothing store for thirty years doing alterations and helping out on the floor. After Jack and Bill’s closed she continued doing alterations out of her home shop for seventeen years until the age of 85.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Pat and many other ladies were instrumental in raising money to build St. Mary’s Gym by having dinners and bake sales.
Pat made many friends doing alterations and especially enjoyed sewing for U.S. Service members and many first responders. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and loved sparring with Cardinal fans wherever she went.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. Graveside services will immediately follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton. Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry or Fulton County Humane Society.
