Dorothy Ann “Ann” Funkenbusch, 95, of Havana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026.Ann was born June 15, 1931, in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Frank Thomas Archer and Ellen Moore Hale Archer. She graduated from high school in Hannibal and remained close with her lifelong girlfriends, cherishing those friendships throughout her life.
Ann married Dale D. Funkenbusch in Hannibal, Missouri, on February 3, 1952. Together they built a loving family and shared more than seventy years of marriage before Dale’s passing in 2022.
Family was the foundation of Ann’s life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale D. Funkenbusch; her parents, Frank and Ellen Archer; her brother, Homer Archer; her sister, Mary Thomas; brothers-in-law Roger and Don Funkenbusch; and sister-in-law Shirley Rathbun.
Along with many nieces and nephews, Ann is survived by her children: David (Chaem) Funkenbusch, Philip (Ken Ng) Funkenbusch, Lisa Hellman (Robert), and Marty Lane (Rick); as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
While family was always her greatest treasure, Ann was perhaps best known throughout central Illinois for Grannie Annie’s Antique, Stitchery and What Not Shoppe, which she owned and operated in Havana from 1980 to 1997. Through her love of quilting, antiques, and craftsmanship, she built a gathering place where customers quickly became friends. Ann possessed a remarkable intuition, an eagerness to learn, and an impeccable sense of style. She had a unique ability to recognize potential and brilliance in others and took great joy in encouraging people to pursue their talents and dreams. Perhaps most memorable was her gift for connecting with people. Whether speaking with a lifelong friend or someone she had just met, she had a way of making others feel seen, heard, and valued.
Her legacy lives on in the beautiful things she created, the confidence she inspired in others, and the family she cherished above all else.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Havana. Visitation will precede the service at 9:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Havana Public Library or the First United Methodist Church of Havana.
The family wishes to thank all those who shared in Ann’s life and friendship over the years. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
