Jeffrey Althiser

Jeffrey Eugene Althiser was born on October 3, 1961 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Les and Alice Althiser. He married his first love, Tina Althiser, on January 25, 1980, she preceded him in death on July 12, 2021.

He leaves behind two daughters, Brittney Althiser and Brooke Meyer (Kevin Doubet) and one son, Brenten Althiser. Jeff had six grandchildren that were the absolute light of his life; Ford, Dallas, and Oakley Meyer as well as Maisie, Cora and Charlie Althiser. Jeff leaves behind his father, Les (Sue) Althiser and sister, Tina (Mark) Kessler. As well as two step siblings; Laura (Rod) Franciskovich and Jim (Karen) Hickman. He leaves behind nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Uncle Buddy; Joe (Cathy) Phillips, Shawn (Kayla) Phillips, Adam (Toni) Phillips, Chad (Demee) Phillips, Seth (Kylie) Kessler and Ali Kessler. He also leaves behind Anna Evitts, someone special.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Alice, his sister Shelley, his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Smith, his maternal grandmother, his Uncle Howard Althiser and his niece Mindy (Phillips) Koch and numerous paternal and maternal aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeff worked hard all his adult life to provide for his family. In his down time he loved spending his free time outdoors; fishing and hunting as well as sitting around a fire with those he loved. Coyote hunting held a special place in his heart as it evolved from fox hunts with his Grandpa Fred to shared experiences with his children and grandchildren. His only goal in life was to love his family and pass on his love for the great outdoors to his family.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Darrin Fish will officiate.
