Fairview -Gene Keithley, 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Red Oak Estates in Canton surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 31, 1934 in Macomb to Leland and Mary "Louise" (Hankins) Keithley. They preceded him in death.
He married Shirley Flynn on September 19, 1954 in Blandinsville, IL. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2004.Surviving are his children, Sherry (Rob) Corcoran of Galesburg, Tammy Lien of Chewelah, WA, Steven (Connie) Keithley of Fairview, Michael (Tricia) Keithley of St. David, fourteen grandchildren, Samuel Dollar, Colby Dollar, Zachary Dollar, Hannah Johnson, Damion Ulm, Kiley Keithley, Katie Coon, Scott Keithley, Dusty George, Anisa Johnson, Arisa Mullens, Austin Weaver, Caleb Keithley, Lily Keithley, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
One daughter, Julie Masterson also preceded him in death along with one grandson, Timothy Dollar.
Donald worked as a school teacher at Spoon River Valley District #4 for 38 years retiring in 1994. After his retirement he worked at Farm King in Canton and the Archeology Department at University of Illinois.
Gene's greatest passion was spending time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and archeology.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Foster Cemetery in Fairview.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
