Esta “Claribel” Buswell

Esta “Claribel” Buswell, 90, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 11:56 am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Renaissance Care Center in Canton, IL. She was born on February 12, 1931 in Astoria, IL, the daughter of George and Clara Mae (Stambaugh) Klinedinst. She married Kenneth Buswell on November 5, 1949 in Ipava. Kenneth preceded Claribel in death on January 1, 2004.


Also preceding her in death are her 5 sisters, Leona Ogden, Nelda Schnarr, Vernadene Buswell, Marjorie Scrogum, and Violet Wickert and 2 brothers, Leroy Klinedinst and Forrest Klinedinst.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Darrel Buswell and Donald (and Niccole) Buswell, both of Ipava, 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Hagen, Devin (and Becky) Buswell, Chase (and Lily) Hagen, Jacob (and Alisa Clemens) Buswell, Elijah Buswell, Josiah (and Nicole Johnson) Buswell, 6 great-grandchildren, Sydney Buswell, Rose Hagen, Hunter Hagen, Judah Buswell, Linkin Buswell and Genesis Clemens.

Claribel graduated from V.I.T High School. She was a life-long farmer (farming alongside her husband) and homemaker to her family. Claribel worked for Fiber Steel in Astoria and went on to be a cook at V.I.T. High School where she retired. She served abundantly as a member, deaconess, and trustee of the Ipava Christian Church. She was a member of the Ipava Toy Committee and was well known for making some of the best chili for the V.I.T. School Chili Suppers. She also coached T-Ball with her husband Kenneth.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Ipava Christian Church in Ipava, IL. Pastor Brant Reed and Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church.
