Canton- Catherine A. Harris, 81, of Canton, passed away at 3:54 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021 at her residence. She was born on July 14, 1940 in Canton, a daughter of George and Frances (Bekin) Jacobs. She married Oscar L. Harris on October 19, 1957. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, one daughter, Shannon Drueke, one sister, Alice Dilts, two brothers, James Jacobs, infant Georgie Jacobs, and one grandson, Eric Harris.
Surviving are her children, Kolby (Tom) Hirth, Janine (Steve) Urbanc, Matthew Harris, Amber (John Workman) Dornon, and Andrew (Rosemarie) Harris, her grandchildren, Rachel (Dustin) Irving, Courtney (Zac) Yocum, Danielle Harris, Cole Hyett, Ashley Harris, Nicholas Harris, and Tayven Urbanc; her great-grandchildren, Lyric, Anna, Cam, Ryland, Braxton, and Oliver.
Catherine was a very active seamstress, gardener, and bird watcher. She also dearly loved her dogs, Joey and Sonny. Having a weekly lunch outing with her “lady friends” gave Catherine great joy. She enjoyed attending auctions in order to find the perfect great buy. Collecting and organizing photo albums throughout her life gave countless hours of fun to her, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Per Catherine’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. A Celebration of Life service and burial of ashes in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
