Alvin R. "Catfish" Bartlett


Canton - Alvin R. "Catfish" Bartlett, 82, of Canton, passed away at 3:30 am, Monday, August 16, 2021 at his residence. He was born on August 30, 1938 in Lewistown to Orlie E. and Virginia (Ford) Bartlett. Catfish married Marilyn Owens on April 22, 1959 in Fulton County. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Tammy Sue Bartlett, two brothers and one granddaughter.

Surviving are three children; Debbie (Mark) Russell of Canton, Carla (Frank) Pierson of North Carolina and Mike (Nikki) Bartlett of Bolivar, Missouri, sister Helen Smith of Cuba, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Catfish worked at International Harvester Company and Navistar for 31 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton, Black Diamond Archery and Canton Police Auxiliary for 17 years. He was officer of the year 6 times. He was a Navy veteran, an avid outdoors man and loved his friends and family.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Thursday, August 19 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. Private services and burial will be at a later date in Liverpool Cemetery with military honors.
