Roy R. “Bud” Slater Sr.


Ipava – Roy “Bud” Slater Sr., 83, of Ipava passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Apache Junction, AZ.  He was born on March 15, 1935 in Canton to Roy W. and Minerva E. (Dick) Slater.  Roy married Sandra F. Dalrymple on June 21, 1964 in Lewistown.  She survives along with 3 children; Anastasia K. (Richard) Noe of Smithfield, Roy R. (Barbara) Slater Jr. of Smithfield, and Arthur (Paula) Slater of Graniteville, S.C, brother John Slater of Bushnell, four sisters; Betty Ackerson of Bushnell, Dora Hisey of Apache Junction, AZ, Dixie Bruketta of Norris, and Paula Julien of Epping N.H, six grandchildren; Delson Wilcoxen, Jherica Wilcoxen, Brittany Foster, Renee Perry, Joshua Slater and Rachel Slater and six great-grandchildren; Jayda Jones, Anna and Kenley Perry, Gatlin and Jozie Foster and Braxton Slater.  Roy was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Roy was a farmer, electrician, and worked at International Harvester Company, retiring after 21 ½ years of service.  He was an Army veteran serving for 8 years.  Roy was a member of the Ipava American Legion Post # 0017 and a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau.
Services will be 11 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton where visitation will Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5-7 pm.  Rev.
