Helen Gray

Farmington – Helen F. Gray, 92, of Farmington, passed away at 9:50 AM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Graham Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Farmington to Steve and Helen (Budiselich) Gasparovich. She married Ralph Gray on November 23, 1950 in Farmington on Thanksgiving Day, which was the coldest November 23rd on record to this date. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008.

Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Joe, Marion “Monty”, Anthony “Gus”, Bobby, Simon, John and Pat, and four sisters, Pauline, Louise, Mary, and Nancy.

Surviving is one son, Joseph (Merna Joy) Gray of Farmington, four grandchildren, Rachel (Joe) Haberlin, Mellisa Snyder, Bradley (Brittany) Gray, and Melissa (Chuck) Wilson, and eight, great-grandchildren, Fantasia, Heaven, Rowdy, Rocky, Ruby Rose, Sophia, Dawson, and Johnny.

Helen worked as a bookkeeper for Betty Ann Bakery in Farmington right out of high school until it closed in the early 70’s and later retired from Flowers by Linda in Farmington. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Farmington and also St. Matthews Alter and Rosary Society. Helen was also a member of Women of the Moose and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed auction sales, baking goodies for her family, and polka music.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be from 10-11 AM. Father Daniel Ebker will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Memorials can be made to Farmington Rescue Squad 1100 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
