Donald Eugene Ellsworth


Donald Eugene Ellsworth, 81 peacefully passed away at his home in Cedar Hill, MO on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 5 pm after long and repeated battles with his health.

Don was born July 8, 1937, in Canton, the son of Robert and Norma (Hanks) Ellsworth. He married Marcheta (Harris) Venegoni on March 29, 1975 who survives.

He is also survived by 4 children, Doug Ellsworth of Urbana, IL, Brad (Melanie) Ellsworth of Austin, TX, Angel Venegoni of St.Louis, MO and Tiffany Ellsworth of Normal, IL, 4 grandchildren (Ryan (Tamra), Brandon, Marisa and Drew) and one great granddaughter (Henleigh). One brother, Dick Ellsworth of Macomb, IL. And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Ferro. His brother in law and sister, Dave and Barbara Russell, his sister in law, Judy Ellsworth and his grandson Peyton Ellsworth.

After graduating from Canton High School in 1955, he enrolled in Caterpillar’s apprentice program, where he worked with pride for 35 years retiring as a buyer in 1988.   From there, he went on to own his own manufacturer’s rep company and even obtained his real estate license. He was also a member of the Elks and Rotary Club.

He enjoyed golfing, bird watching and boating, especially in the Lake of the Ozarks. His love for the water brought countless memories to his family and friends.

A proud American, he was always there to greet you with a firm handshake. He will be remembered as a caring man with a big heart who loved and guided his family without hesitation.

13 years ago, Don received a double lung transplant from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. His family would like to thank members of the transplant department for their continued compassion and support. In his memory, memorials may be made to The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital Transplant division.

Memorial service will be held at 12 PM noon on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM. Rev. K.
