She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Edward J. Lowe; one brother, Raymond Myers; one sister, Margaret Johnson; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Lowe.
Verna is survived by two children, Michael G. Lowe and Marcia K. (Gerald) Pauley both of East Peoria; six grandchildren, Rachael (Scott) Smith of Singapore, Lauren (William) Schone of Washington, IL, Seth (Sarah) Lowe of Morton, IL; Caleb Lowe of Wisconsin, Abijah Lowe of Minnesota, and Mecquel Lowe of California; seven great-grandchildren, Iona Smith, Norah Schone, Phineas Schone, Faye Schone, Eden Lowe, Wyatt Lowe, and Esme Lowe; and many nieces and nephews.
Verna was a foster grandparent at Proctor daycare for over 25 years. She had previously volunteered in the Methodist Hospital Gift Shop, while also working her job as a grandma. She last worked in January of 2020. Verna was a member of South Park United Methodist Church in Canton, IL. She attended Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria. She loved to spend time with family, friends and to help others. She also loved to knit and crochet.
Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. A private burial will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Pastor Joel Newton will officiate. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, IL.
