She was born on August 25, 1949, in Canton, to Lyle and Maureen (Bordner) Brown. They preceded her in death along with one son, David E. Collins II, two brothers, Kenneth, and Donnie Brown.
She married David E. Collins I on March 25, 1967, in Liverpool. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2010.
She is survived by, Gayle (Doug) Rentsch of Chillicothe, three brothers, Carl Brown of Lewistown, Dick Brown of Middle Grove, and Adam (Lisa) Brown of Arkansas, two sisters, Patty (the late Ben) Smith of Missouri, Amy Brown of Missouri, four grandchildren, Samantha of North Carolina, Zach (Emily) of Arkansas, Tyrel of Arizona, and Jada of Galesburg, and two great grandchildren, Dollia and Mabel both of Arkansas.
Dixie worked at Canton Overall Factory for 20 years. She later retired from Midwest Manufacturing in Bushnell. Lastly she worked for Lutheran Health Services taking care of the elderly.
Dixie enjoyed horses, sewing, dancing and karaoke. She never met a stranger and will be remembered for her great sense of humor. She loved tending flowers and finding mushrooms faster than anyone else. She also was a very passionate animal lover. Most of all, Dixie loved to travel to see her great grandkids who will always remember her fondly by “GiGi”.
A visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12:00 noon.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services, a celebration of life will be held following the services at the Canton VFW.
Memorials may be mad e to the American Cancer Society or to the Fulton County Humane Society.
