Also surviving Larry is his daughter, Julie (Dan) Edwards of Farmington; two grandchildren, Ashlan (Dimitri) Kapsalis, and Brittan (Hayden) Morris; one great-grandchild, Anastasia Kapsalis; four brothers, Lowell Dean (Debbie) Walters of Canton, Lyle (Debbie) Walters of Havana, Lendel (Sandy) Walters of Canton, and Laverne “Butch” (Tammy) Walters, also of Canton; four sisters, Linda (Leon) Sherwood of Canton, Lucinda (Wayne) Wheeler of Canton, Lucille (Frank) Yerbic of Canton, and Leigh Ann Fox of Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Louise Kemper.
Larry began working for Ag Service, Inc. in 1974. He later purchased the company in 1983, and changed the name to Walter’s Ag Service, Inc. in 1990. Larry was a member of Farmington Odd Fellows, Fulton County Farm Bureau, and also the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association. He enjoyed farming, cattle, Farmall Tractors, fishing, and model trains. He was also fond of radio-controlled airplanes and cars, making small engine repairs, listening to country music, building grandfather clocks, antique cars, three wheelers, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite activities was taking car rides with his friend John Dare 2-3 times a week to go get milkshakes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton, IL, where an Odd Fellows service will be held prior at 10:45 AM. A visitation will take place the evening before, on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM, also at Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton. Pastor Don Stevens will officiate. Burial will be immediately following services, at Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Central Academic Foundation, or to the Sandra J.
