Russell E. “Boss” Rawley, 90, of Canton, passed away at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2020 at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1930 in Breed, IL to Jesse and Marie (Iseli) Rawley. He first married Mary Demery and she preceded him in death in 1994. He later married Betty Rawley and she preceded him in death in 2012.
Surviving are four children, Jeanie (the late Gerald) Hart of St. David, Sandy (the late Gary) Grove of Havana, Debbie (David) Vaughn of St. David, and Tina (Robert) Crotzer of St. David; step-daughter, Tammy Stanton of London Mills; he was a pappy to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jeanetta Malone of Canton; niece, Julie Rawley of Lewistown; nephew, Jessie Rawley of Lewistown; one brother, Robert (the late Dorothy) Rawley of Canton; and two sisters, Grace (the late Robert) Garren of Canton and Dorothy (the late Robert) Burkhead.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Nancy and her husband Robert Terry and Arthur Malone, and two brothers, Jess Rawley and Lester “Let” Rawley.
Russell retired from the railroad after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429 and the Canton Eagles Lodge. Russell enjoyed woodworking, making bird feeders and squirrel feeders, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. But most of all, Russell loved spending time with all of his family.
Russell served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in France and Germany.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Highbridge Cemetery in Dunfermline, IL. Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.
