John G. “Peachie” Fidler, 74, of Canton, passed away at 7:15 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 30, 1946 in Banner, IL to Dewey and Vada (Ashby) Fidler. He first married C. June Hodge on March 6, 1976. She preceded him in death seven years ago. He later married Diann Whitford on November 27, 2014 in Rockford, IL. She survives.
Surviving are two children, John (Tina) Fidler of Canton and Terry (Tammy Blum) Fidler of Morris; Three step-children, Ty (Marci) Whitford, Starr (Terry) Bayliss, and Cory (Xavier) Whitford; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Dylan) Meier, Aaron Fidler, Daniel Fidler, Nathan Lowder, Allyson Fidler, Jordan Tiritilli, Michael Wozny, and Joseph Wozny; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Bonnie) Fidler of Canton; and one sister, Valerie Fidler-Benge of TN.
Peachie was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dixie Reed.
Peachie retired from Caterpillar after 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton and a lifetime member of the Lancaster Lodge #106 A.F. & A.M. in Glasford, IL. Peachie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. He was a baseball couch from the American Legion to the Little League. Peachie loved to fish and hunt with his kids.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Walnut Cemetery in Banner, IL. Memorials can be made to the Lancaster Lodge #106 in Glasford, IL.
