Norman C. Hopper, 92, of Canton, passed away on December 28, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born on February 6, 1928 in Galesburg to Orrin and Maxine (Maxwell) Hopper. Norman married Virginia A. Suydam on June 25, 1950 in Canton. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers; Dale and Don and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are two children; Sue Ann Starcevich of Puyallup, WA and Scott Hopper of Canton, one brother Roy, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Norman graduated from Canton High School in 1946 and was inducted into the Little Giant Hall of Fame for football. He worked at IHC from 1948-1981 as a steam and pipe fitter. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Canton Masonic Lodge, NRA, past president of Smithfield Trap Shoot Club, Fairview Fin and Feather and was an avid fisherman, hunter and trap shooter
Graveside services will at 11am Monday, January 4, 2020 at White Chapel Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:45 am Monday, January 4, 2020 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. Memorials can be made to Smithfield Trap Shoot Club.
