Barbara Jean Kendrick

Barbara Jean Kendrick, age 64 of Vermont, Illinois, passed away at 2:40 am on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born on September 26, 1957 in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Harold L. and Helen L. (Wheeler) McCurdy. On September 25, 1976, Barb married Danny Kendrick in Vermont. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Christopher (and Jennifer) Kendrick and Joshua (and Ashley Davis) Kendrick, both of Astoria, Illinois, Gabriel Kendrick of Vermont, six grandchildren; McKinley Kendrick, Myles Kendrick, Taegen Kendrick, Malachi Kendrick, Kash Kendrick, and Kasen Kendrick, her brother David (and Kathy) McCurdy and her sister-in-law Rose McCurdy, both of Vermont.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Knox Davis Kendrick and brother Dale McCurdy.

She first worked at Nielsen's Grocery in Vermont and later was Postmaster at the Vermont Post Office. She also was a waitress at various area restaurants.

Barb enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bird watching and taking walks, especially with her dog "Storm". She was a cat lover and loved to attend her families ballgames and events.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Ben Murray will officiate. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 10th from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery. Memorials in Barb's memory may be made to the Schuyler County Humane Society or the Barb Kendrick Memorial for medical expenses.

Jackie L. Yazvec

Caroline “Jackie” L. Yazvec, 90, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 3:15 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her home. She was born on Tuesday, May 5, 1931 in Macomb, IL, the daughter of Gail and Edith (Kelly) Taber. Jackie married Michael Yazvec on December 30, 1951 in Ipava. Mike preceded Jackie in death on March 5, 2019.

Also preceding her are 3 sisters, Almalee Johnson, Shirley Marie Taber and Imogene Hammond.

Surviors include her one daughter, Nancy (and Harold "Bud") Sackett of Ipava, two sons, Michael (and Cindy) Yazvec of Table Grove, IL and Fred (and Reta) Yazvec of Ipava, five grandchildren; Jason (and Ashley) Yazvec, Blake Yazvec, Darrin (and Miranda) Yazvec, Christopher Yazvec, and Curtis Yazvec, five great-grandchildren; Jaylee, Jack, Harlee, Tucker, and Greysen Yazvec, and her sister, Ann Wys of Ipava.

Jackie worked at Fiber Steel in Astoria, IL in the late 1960’s. She also farmed along side her husband Mike throughout her life. She spent a lot of time woodworking, making birdhouses, benches, tables and several different things.

She was a member of the Ipava Christian Church. She loved riding her Golf Cart around Ipava and mowing the yard.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Brant Reed will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church.

George T Wayland Jr

Canton - George Wayland Jr, 59, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on September 30, 1962.
Surviving is his mother and step father, Helen and Harold Hyer of West Virginia, his girlfriend, Penni Hansen of Canton, one brother Steven Wetland, one step brother David and his two children.
He was preceded in death by his father George Wayland Sr and one sister, Lisa Hyer.
George worked as a chef and enjoyed watching football and NASCAR.
Cremation rites have been accorded at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton and no services are to be held.

Ivan J. Hilton

Canton- Ivan J. Hilton, 84, of Canton, passed away at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born on November 25, 1937 in Canton, a son of Ivan C. and Beulah (Harr) Hilton. He married Sharon Auld on February 5, 1965 in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Tim Hilton; Valerie (Mike) Fontana; Rodney Hilton, all of Canton; Jamie Hilton of Ohio; two grandchildren, Garrett Lee Hilton, Marin Hilton; two brothers, Garland (Eileen) Hilton; Lonnie Hilton, both of Canton, and one brother-in-law, Tom Kennedy of Farmington.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Betsy Kennedy.

He worked and retired from International Harvester (Navistar) after many years of service, was an avid fisherman, attended Wesley United Methodist Church, was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 plus years, and member of the Scottish Rites. Ivan served his country in the United States Army from 1960 until 1962. He always enjoyed time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon) on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Joyce E. Johnson

Joyce E. Johnson, 94, of Elmwood, passed away at 9:04 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Country Comfort Assisted Living in Elmwood.

She was born on February 1, 1927, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Eugene and Willie Bell (West) McLaughlin. She married Carol Johnson on June 30, 1946, in Campbell, California. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2002.
Joyce is survived by one daughter, Katherine (John) Maher of Brimfield; four grandchildren, Kyle (Laura) Hasselbacher, Lee (Jim) Hasselbacher Trifone, Sean (Shalaine) Maher, and Kerry (Michael) Head; ten great-grandchildren, Brenna and Logan Hasselbacher, Bastian, Westley, and Lilly Trifone, Ashlyn (Austin Golemon) Maher and Erin Maher, and Kadence, Kourtney, and Kolton Head; and one son-in-law, Bob Beaumont.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carolyn Beaumont; and two infant brothers.
Joyce worked 30 years at Caterpillar Tractor Company where she retired from on February 1, 1982. She lived in Elmwood since 1957. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Elmwood.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Per her wishes, Joyce didn't want a visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Reverend Marla Bauler will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the First United Presbyterian Church of Elmwood or the Charity of the Donor's preference.

Norma Jean Parker

Norma Jean Parker, 86, of Havana, IL, passed away at 2:48 am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton, IL. She was born on July 22, 1935. Norma Jean married Ernest Parker on January 20, 1966 in Moline, IL. Ernest preceded Norma in death on August 9, 2012.

She is also preceded by her parents, Bennie and Maxine (Smith) Sackman and 2 sisters, Betty Key and Patricia Tharp.

She is survived by her sister, Donna (and Clinton) Morrill of Havana, IL and brother, Fred Dick of Canton.

Norma Jean’s First job was at Carp’s Department Store in Havana. She later worked at Walgreen’s in Moline and several different jobs.

She enjoyed baking wedding cakes and sewing.

A graveside service will take place at 11 am on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the Apple Cemetery in Lewistown, IL.

Vicky S. Curless

Glasford - Vicky S. Curless, 65, of Glasford, passed away, Monday, November 29, 2021, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born on, June 24, 1956, in Peoria, to Leonard M. and Catherine (Talbert) Curless. They preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother, Stephen (Audrey) Curless of Glasford, one sister, Diana (Michael) Lammi of Rockford, four nieces and nephews, Kevin (Julie) Curless, James (Tiffini) Curless, Amy (Brad) Derry and Josh (Ashley) Lammi, and four great nieces and nephews, Jameson, Peyton, Lainey, Wyatt, and one on the way.
Vicky worked at the Glasford State Bank for 42 years. She enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and doing ceramics. She was a talented photographer and she loved spending time with her bank family outside of work.
A funeral service will be held, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to Timber Hollis Fire Department.
