Peter Randall “Randy” Julius, 76, of Manito, passed away at OSF-St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria, at 7:42 a.m., on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. He was born August 5, 1948, in Taylorville, Illinois, to Peter and Ada Lee (Page) Julius. He married Paulette Charnisky at Our Lady of the Charity, in Cicero, Illinois, on May 23, 1970. She survives.Mr. Julius is survived by his wife, Paulette, of Manito; two children: Jennifer Julius, of Manito, William “Bill” Julius, of Manito; four grandchildren: Zachary Harris, of Pekin, Aymee (Tyler Chamness) Julius, of Manito, Kayla (Dylan) Carnes, of Forest City, Tyler (fiancée-Holli Walden) Dalby, of Morrisonville; as well as one great-granddaughter: Josephine Lynn Carnes, of Forest City. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ronald, Shirley, Rosalee, Eddie Joe, Vickie, Debbie, and Bob; and daughter-in-law Cheri Julius.
Mr. Julius was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Manito. He had been an active member of Virden Sports Boosters and the American Legion. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal, Las Vegas Raiders, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the US Navy from 1966, until 1967. He worked as a coal miner for Freeman United Crown 2, National Big Four Asbestos Recovery, and KM Plant Services.
Funeral services will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at St. Frederick’s Catholic Cemetery, in Manito. Deacon Bob Sondag will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
