James "Jim" G. Williams

James G. (Jim) Williams 90 longtime resident of Canton Illinois passed away Thursday February 20, 2025 in Canton. He was born October 30, 1934 in Indian Creek Mo. He was the seventh child of Martin T. & Rose B (Adam) Williams. He married Marilyn (Hayes) Williams, in Monroe City Mo. May 8, 1956. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Phil & Becky of Carlinville Illinois, Mike of Allen Texas, and Mark & Yolanda of Peoria. Seven grandchildren, 5 great granddaughters, 1 step grandson and 2 step grandchildren, one sister, Regina Hays of Monroe City Mo, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and seven nephews. Jim was a sales representative & sales manager for a paper distributor for 41 years. He began in Quincy, IL with Irwin Paper, and after many acquisitions it was last known as Unisource. Jim was an active member of St. Mary’s parish. After retirement he volunteered at the St. Mary’s food pantry. He was a member of the 3rd & 4th degree Knights of Columbus, and former member of Canton Country Club. He enjoyed playing cards, golf, listening to music & being with his grandchildren & family. He was lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, Green Bay Packers & Notre Dame football fan. He had a good sense of humor, a quick wit & enjoyed making people laugh. He will be greatly missed. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Food Pantry or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at Oaks Hines Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Canton.
