Dr. Avrum A. Stein


Dr. Avrum A. Stein, 86, of Pekin, Illinois passed away peacefully at his residence Thursday morning, September 1, 2022. He was born May 27, 1936, in Pueblo, Colorado to the late, Albert and Rose (Krigel) Stein. He married Patty Endicott Stein on August 16, 1959, in Peoria, Illinois. She survives.

Avrum graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1957. He went into practice in Manito, Illinois for 18 months, where he met his wife, Patty. Upon being drafted into the U.S. Army, he was stationed at Valley Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then opened and ran his own practice in Pekin, Illinois for 30 years. Upon retirement, Av and Patty spent the winters in Florida and summers in Illinois, until the pandemic, when they moved back to Illinois full time.

Dr. Stein is survived by his wife, Patty Stein, his children, Aaron (Christine) Stein, of Pekin, IL, Rhonda Stein, of Pensacola, Florida, and Mitchel (Deanna) Stein, of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander (Samantha) Stein, Elizabeth Stein, Kathryn (Seth) Stein Parker, Niovi Dollas, Evan Dollas, Kiara Stein, Brycer (Vanessa) Stein, his great-grandchildren, Jaide Stein, Allison Stein, Sorren Parker, Finley Parker, and a sister-in-law, Anna Lee Stein.

In addition to his parents, Albert and Rose Stein, Mr. Stein was preceded in death by his brother, David Lee Stein.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington street, in Manito, IL. A private graveside service will be held in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
