Cuba-James "Jim" Carl Helfers, 67, passed away on February 24, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on December 19, 1954 in Hillsboro, IL to Carl and Glenda (Throgmartin) Helfers. They preceded him in death along with one brother, Chuck Helfers.He married Kim Hammond on October 16, 2020 in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Heidi (Late Troy) Edwards of Pekin, Heather Helfers of Lewistown, Cody (Jen) Helfers of Pekin, Hailey Helfers of East Peoria, step son Brandon Hammond of Norris, brothers, Marty (Teresa) Helfers of Pekin, Mike (Karen) Helfers of Peoria, Danny (Cher) Helfers of Metamora, one sister, Nancy Hall of Bloomington and grandchildren, Kaleb, Austin, Keegan, Skylar, Landon and Jaclyn.
Jim retired from the Steamfitters Union Local #353 in Peoria in 2008. He graduated from MDR High School in 1973. He also enjoyed motorcycles.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton from 4-6 pm with a funeral service to follow at 6pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
