Grover “Buck” Dye


Lewistown – Grover “Buck” Dye, 84 of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on October 21, 1933 in Easton, IL. to Herbert and Avis (Dobson) Dye.  Buck married Shirley Emery on September 10, 1976 in Severville, TN.  She preceded him in death on February 10, 2018.  Also preceding him were his parents, step-son Greg Widger, two brothers; Louis Dye and Gary Dye, and two grandsons Jay Dye and Ronnie Widger.  Surviving are four children; Brandi Brown of Pontiac, Allen (Kathy A.) Dye of Havana, Mitchell (Jennifer) Dye of Havana, and Tony (Lydia) Dye of Gurnee, four step-children; Ron (Leighann) Widger of Canton, Steve Widger of Canton, Deb Courtney (Tim) of Delevan, and Dianne Widger of Canton, two brothers; Kenny (Jane) Dye of Havana and Mike (Kathy) Dye of Lewistown, five sisters; Valera Middleton of Havana, Linda (Paul) Bailey of Havana, Barb (Cary) Bohanan of Canton, Mary (Gary) Kolves of Bath, and Judy Richardson of Eagle River, AK, daughter-in-law Emma, sister-in-law Kathy V. Dye, 30 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Buck was a farmer his entire life. He farmed in Fulton and Mason County.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  Cremation rites will follow the visitation.  Burial of ashes in White Chapel Memory Gardens will take place at a later date.  Memorials can be made to Maples Mills Church.  To view Buck’s DVD or to leave online condolences, please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com
