Farmington – Charles W. Parkhurst, 88, of Farmington, passed away at 3:14 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. He was born on April 18, 1929 in Delevan, IL to Clarence and Esther (Berchtold) Parkhurst. He married Edith M. Fairburn on August 4, 1970 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2014.
Also preceding him in death are his parents, two daughters, Alice and Mary, one grandson, Joshua, and one sister, Bertha Gleichman.
Surviving six children, Marilyn (Tom) Wilson of Edwards, IL, Tom (Edie) Martin of Jacksonville, FL, Cindy (Gary) York of MI, Evon (Mike) Tatum of Washington, IL, Kathy (Dick) Chapman of Peoria, IL, and Tim (Monica) Martin of Elmwood, IL; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
Charles retired in 1991 from Caterpillar after 29 years of service and was also a lifelong Farmer. He was a life long member and deacon at Farmington Bible Church. Charles was an avid fisherman.
Charles served in the Army.
Services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 12-1 PM.
