David R. Bremer


 Canton - David R. Bremer, 76, went home to be with his Lord and savior on Friday, June 30, 2017 with his family and his pastor by his bedside.

David was born August 16, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois to his parents Ernest and Jane Bremer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John David and Patrick Arthur; and one brother, Donald Bremer.

He married the love of his life, Patricia Arlene Johnson on March 9, 1963.  In celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Dave asked Patty to marry him again - They renewed their vows on March 9, 2013 in Weslaco , Texas surrounded by very dear friends in their Winter Home Community.  Patty or "Rose" as Dave called her, survives.

Also surviving are his two daughters, Lauri (James) Williams of Chesterfield ,  Virginia and Kari (Chris) Franzoni of Canton , Illinois .

He thoroughly enjoyed and was very proud of his five Grandchildren:
1st Class Petty Officer Amanda Christine Urton (Navy) of Stuttgart, Germany;
James David Williams of Fredericksburg ,Virginia; Vincent Patrick (Kathryn) Franzoni of Canton, Illinois; Sergeant Matthew Bremer (Jessica) Franzoni (Marines) of Kailua, Hawaii; and his best Golf buddy, Emily Lynn Franzoni of Canton, Illinois.

He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Mike) Ream of Sacramento, California; Brothers Steve and Dan of Peoria, Illinois; Cousins Warren (Connie) Bremer of  East Peoria, Illinois and Rob Bremer of Gatlinburg, Tennessee;

David was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company for 40 years. He entered the Apprenticeship Program in 1965 and remained an employee as a Metal Pattern Maker until his retirement in 2004.  Upon his retirement, he and Patty enjoyed their winter Snowbird Community in  Weslaco , Texas .

Dave was an avid Golfer throughout his whole life and always shared his passion and knowledge of the game with his family, friends, and fellow golfing partners.

He truly enjoyed his visits on Dave & Phyllis  Bruketta's front porch.  Dave could always be found picking up litter along 4th Avenue with his furry Golden Retriever sidekicks Maggie and Lilly.

Dave Invented/Patented The JUST 1 Coffee Filter Separator distributing his gadget throughout the United States .

A Service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Canton, 301 E. Elm.
