Michael D. Redlingshafer

Michael D. Redlingshafer, 67 of Rural Elmwood, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.  He was born November 13, 1949, at Graham Hospital, in Canton to John H. and Audrey I. (Van Petten) Redlingshafer.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a great niece.
He married Toni Ferrari on June 22, 1974, in Farmington, Illinois.  She survives, along with their son, John (Stephanie) Redlingshafer of Washington, Illinois; four grandchildren (Ellie, Ainsley, Jackson, and Dalton Redlingshafer); his sisters, Rita (Tom) Hassall of Virginia and Colorado, Gayle (Harold) Berman of Efrat, Israel, and Angela Lyn Green (Kelly) of Tucson, Arizona; three nieces, one nephew, and two great nieces.  Mike also had countless other special friends he considered family, who were by his side throughout his illness.
Mike graduated from Farmington Community High School in 1967 and attended both Bradley University and Illinois Central College.  He worked at International Harvester in Canton, Countrywide TV & Appliance in Canton and Farmington, but his first, favorite, and final career was a self-employed farmer.
He served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post #140 in Farmington.  Mike was also Past Master of Farmington Lodge 192 of the A.F. & A.M. of the State of Illinois, and member of Farmington Moose Lodge #1571.
When he was not farming, Mike enjoyed coin collecting, boating, camping, and attending countless events in support of his grandchildren.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes there will be no visitation, no funeral, no regrets, no remorse, and no sorrows.  Instead, the family will gather later this year for a celebration of life.
If so inclined, memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Historical Society and Museum or the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, of which he was a member. Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington is in charge of arrangements.
