Bonnie Jean Caulkins


Lewistown-  Bonnie Jean Caulkins, 75, of Lewistown passed away at 1:35 AM Saturday April 15, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 2, 1941 at rural Ipava, the daughter of Floyd “Penny” and Rosella (Daniels) Melvin. She married Adrian D. Caulkins August 15, 1960 at Lewistown. He died July 24, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother. Surviving are her children, Keenan (Jackie) Caulkins, Adrina (Ed) Brewer, Malina (Larry) Lehman, Travis (Treva) Caulkins all of Lewistown, nine grandchildren, Andrew & Kimberly Caulkins, Lee, Scott, & Ben Brewer, Valerie (Brewer) Rutherford, Zac & Kent Lehman, and Haley Caulkins, seven great grandchildren, Austin Perona, Logan Brewer, Jada & James Rutherford, Owen Caulkins, Jaxon Lehman, and Desmond Kobek, her siblings, Ethel (DeWayne) Johnson, Nancy (Larry) Coon, Shirley Taylor, Marilyn (Dale) Henderson, Floyd (Becky) Melvin, Jim (Debbie) Melvin, Penny (Jim) Stambaugh, Mary (George) O’Connell, Rosie West, Bertha (Chuck) Sneyd, Ron (Steve Phillips) Melvin, Pauline Mahan, and her beloved dog Skye.

Bonnie was a tutor for Spoon River College Literacy Program and a volunteer at Graham Hospital and for Graham Hospice. She loved quilting, cooking, embroidering, and gardening.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewistown and also attended Grace Baptist Church in Havana on a regular basis.

After the premature death of her mother, she and her husband helped raise nine of her siblings. This made for a large extended family that has remained very close through the years.

She dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Lewistown with Pastors Eric Sawyer and Matt Reeves officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist
