James Gary Sleeth


James Gary Sleeth, 81, passed away in New Braunfels, Texas on April 30, 2016 at the age of 81.  He was born in Peoria, Illinois on December 29, 1934 to James Francis Sleeth and Clara Evelyn Sleeth (nee Glasford).  James married Frances Ada Shea in 1956 in Washington, D.C., and they were married nearly 52 years until her passing in 2008.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents; and his brother Robert Glasford Sleeth and his wife Betsy.

James is survived by his children, Patricia West (Clay), Pamela Jane Sleeth, Carol Lynn Conahan (Cormac), Karla Kae Sleeth, James Gary Sleeth, Jr., and Michael Robert Sleeth (Janie); grandchildren, Laura and Abe Sharp, Leah and Brandon Gillham, McKayla Lynn Conahan, and Cormac Dylan Conahan ; great-grandchildren, Grant Clark Gillham and Landon Isacc Gillham; brother, Larry Kip Sleeth (Nancy); sisters, Lynn April Rodstrom (Richard) and Carol Evelyn Sleeth Kenagy (Donald), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California with a master’s degree in business administration.  James served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a proud veteran.   He retired from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory.  He was vice-president and general manager of TEMPFLEX New Braunfels, TX. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the American Welding Society, the American Legion in Kentucky, and was a member of the Elks Lodge in New Braunfels, TX. James attended First Baptist Church in Canyon Lake, TX.

Services will be held at 12 PM noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 11-12 PM. Pastor Judy Doyle will officiate. Burial will follow services at Penn Ridge Cemetery in Rural Trivoli, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Penn Ridge Cemetery Association; 3404 S Texas Blvd Trivoli, IL 61569.
