He was born on November 19, 1954, in Canton, to Harlen and Wilma (Anderson) Duckwiler.
He is preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Dean and Alan, and one sister Nancy Clark.
Melvin married Mary A. (Tindall) on November 18, 1983. She preceded him in death in 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Lingenfelter), whom he married on May 19, 2015.
Also surviving are five children, Miranda Jones, Nicholas, Jones, Daniel Duckwiler, Steven Duckwiler, and Melvin Duckwiler Jr., two step children, Aaron (Amy) Mayall, and Mandi (Tim) Bridgewater, one sister, Thelma Webb, three grandchildren, Alissabeth, Madisyn, and Kailyn, six step grandchildren, one great grandchild and one step great grandchild.
Melvin was a proud union member of UAW. He retired from Caterpillar KK building in East Peoria after 33 years of service. He enjoyed everything outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and looking for genseng. Melvin worked for the Village of Dunfermline as road maintenance for many years. Melvin was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the family asks to please wear camo or your St. Louis Cardinals attire to the funeral.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Burial will immediately follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
