Virginia Ann Vasen

Virginia Ann Vasen, 88, of Canton, passed away at 10:15 am, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton. She was born on May 8, 1934 in Princeton to Oscar and Nellie (Wise) Lundgren. Virginia married Willam Vasen on August 14, 1955 in Princeton. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2022. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and one sister. Surviving is one son Gregory W. Vasen of Champaign, two grandsons; Christopher Michael Vasen and Andrew Ryan Vasen and sister Carolyn Butterfield of Princeton. Virginia graduated from Manlius High School as the Salutatorian. She worked at Spoon River College from 1960-1994 as a registrar. Virginia was a member of First United Congregational Church of Christ since 1956, serving as council President, Secretary, Treasurer and on the Pastoral Search Committee. She also was a member of the Canton China Guild, served on the Canton Community Concert Board and was a Canton Breast Cancer Survivor. Services will be 11 am Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
