Jerry Lee Charlton, 91, of Manito, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:05 AM Eastern time in Northern Kentucky at the home of her son, Roger Charlton. For the past year and two months she lived with Roger and his wife Ida. Jerry was born to John Pruett Jr. and Mary Ellen (Reynolds) on October 25, 1931 in Lincoln, Illinois. Jerry was married to John L. Charlton, deceased November 2018. They had two sons: Rick Charlton, deceased October 2009 (Paula Fornoff Charlton), and Roger Charlton (Ida Miller Charlton).
Jerry is survived by 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Josh (Maggi) Charlton, Grace and Luke Charlton, of Manito; Zac (Monica) Charlton, of Manito, Ayla, Oakley and Laikyn Charlton, of Manito; Beau Charlton, Megan Charlton, Rickey, Bella, and Elizabeth Charlton, of Manito; Hilary (David) Vine, and Peter Vine of California;
Ben (Kristen) Charlton, of Northern Kentucky, step grandson, Paul (Natalie) Barrilles, Jack and Abby Charlton of Northern Kentucky; Emilie (Jeremy) Leach of Northern Kentucky, Annabel, Finn, Charlie Leach of Northern Kentucky; Elizabeth (Nathan) Dahler of Cincinnati, Ava, Reese, and Channing Dahler of Cincinnati.
As well as nephews and nieces, Linda(Henry)Burch of Manito Il, Debbie Arnold, Pekin, Illinois, Tommie (Stephanie) Schmitgall of Oregon; Danny Schmitgall, deceased; as well as great neices and nephews.
Jerry graduated from Manito High School, class of 1949. Jerry was a homemaker and faithfully and lovingly stood by her husband of 69 years. She was an active member of the Manito Community United Methodist Church. She volunteered for the Forman Ambulance Service along with her son, Rick. Jerry voluntered at the gradeschool, listening to children read. She especially loved this and the children loved her.
Funeral services will be held at Manito Community United Methodist Church, in Manito IL., at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 2, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Meadow Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Steve Oaks will officiate.
