James A. Schlink

Bartonville- James A. Schlink, 83, of Bartonville, passed away at 1:06 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at River Crossing of East Peoria. He was born on January 25, 1939, a son of Robert and Bessie (Reeves) Schlink Sr. He married Dorothy Sue Baer on March 3, 1962, in Peoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving James is his daughter, Teri (Dave) Vermillion of Yates City, IL; two grandchildren, Nathan (Jodi) Vermillion of Leroy, IL, and Ben (Lynsey) Vermillion of Canton, IL; 7 great grandchildren, Presley, Easton, Maddox, Milo, Ellis, Malia, and Trace; and one brother, Robert Schlink Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Jim worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years in various areas and was very proud to have been a Drafting Engineer. He was a man of Catholic faith, who enjoyed bowling and working at Airport Bowl, liked CB radios or any electronic gadgets and growing tomatoes in his garden. Jim was also a Veteran of the United States Army.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Endsley- Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville, IL., where a visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Rev. Kevin Van Tine will be officiating. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Peoria, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
