He was born April 17, 1941 at Canton, the son of Eugene and Dorothy (Bellamy) Howarter. He married Mary Stephens in November 1992 at Lewistown. She survives with five children, Candy Windsor of Cuba, Lori (Jason) Harper of Fairview, Tonya (Mark) Aurand of Oregon, IL; Julie (Doug) Thomas of Marietta, and Johnny (Rhonda) Zimmerman of Oregon, IL; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, two sisters, Sharon (Alex) Lacewell of Chillicothe, and Flora Jean Fortney of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald “Billy” Hendryx, two grandsons, T.J. Coulter, and Adam Aurand, and one son in law, Ricky Windsor.
Bill was the manager of the former Alexander Lumber Company in Cuba for 33 years before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. One of Bill’s famous sayings was “In the shop making dust”.
Cremation will be accorded and a private graveside service will be held at Cuba Cemetery with Pastor Mike Arnett officiating.
