Pastor Richard L. Wilkinson, Sr.

Pastor Richard L. Wilkinson Sr.,84, of Canton, passed away at 1:35 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 2, 1938 in Canton, IL to James and Faye (Hedge) Wilkinson. He married Janell Fuller on August 1, 1959 at the South Park Methodist Church in Canton, IL. She survives.

Richard is also survived by one son, Richard L. (Crystal) Wilkinson Jr. of Canton, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Jerimy Wilkinson; and two sisters, Joyce Fulton and Delores Walker.

Richard worked and retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville, IL after 35 ½ years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fixing clocks. Later in life he found Jesus as his personal savior, which led him to pastor for over 20 years. Richard would also serve the Lord as a nursing home and prison minister. He was a member of the St. David Church of the Nazarene in St. David, IL.

He was also a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Per Richard’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. A Celebration of Life and burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. David Church of the Nazarene in St. David, IL.
