Paul C. Johnson, 85, of Farmington, went home by the Lord’s side and entered the eternal gates of Heaven at 2:02 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on August 10, 1936 in Peoria to Herman and Grace (Cramer) Johnson. He married Wanda Crabtree on November 20, 1960 in Glasford, IL. She survives.
Paul is also survived by four children, Mike (Edie) Johnson of Bella Vista, AR, Tim (Susan) Johnson of El Paso, IL, Marcella (Dennis) Whittaker of Princeville, IL, and Eric (Dyana) Johnson of Palestine, AR; nine grandchildren, Cyrstal (Derek) Fisher, Jacob (Heather) Johnson, Hannah (Jeff) Spencer, Sarah (Nick) Stier, Zach (Gail Massa) Johnson, Noah (Sidni) Johnson, Josh (Alex) Whittaker, Elizabeth Johnson, and Ally Johnson; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, David Johnson, and one sister, Linda (Fred) Volkmar.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter, Leah Whittaker.
Paul worked and retired in the tech center of Caterpillar. He was raised in the Lutheran Church, but faith kept him moving. He enjoyed farming, traveling, and camping. He never met a stranger of any kind. He loved being and playing with his grandkids. Paul was a farmer most of his life. He was also a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL. A visitation will be held the same day from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM. Pastor John Hopwood will officiate. Burial will follow services at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford, IL. Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Grace Presbyterian Church, or Michael’s Run-in honor of Leah Whittaker.
