Earl R. Duley, 89, of Maquon, passed away at 2:02 pm., on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at OSF Saint Mary's Hospital in Galesburg. Earl was born March 1, 1932, to Henry and Lou Ethel (Appel) Duley in Stoddard, MO. He married Emma Jane (Hills) on June 17, 1954 in Oneida, IL. She survives.
He is also survived by three children, Cheryl Young of Maquon, Earl "David" (Celene) Duley of London Mills, and Joan Duley of Maquon; two brothers, Don Duley and Ralph (Judy) Duley; one sister, Dorothy Schell; three grandchildren, David Young, Kayla (Daniel) Mitchell, and Ashley (Fred) Sampang; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Sampang and Lincoln Sampang.He is preceded in death by his parents; and the following siblings, Carl Duley, Mary Brown, Estel Polen, Russell Polen, Charles Polen, Ruth Getting, and Alfreda Crane.
Earl served in the Army during the Korean Conflict between September 1952 to September 1954. He received the Bronze Star and two Battle Stars. He later was a Caterpillar Operator at Midland Coal where he worked for over 22 years. Earl also was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Fairview American Legion and V.F.W.
A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Yates City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maquon Fire Department.
