Marilyn I. Orwig

Marilyn I. Orwig, 88, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 7:00 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. She was born on Wednesday, May 17, 1933 in Browning, IL, the daughter of Lossie and Lula (Gibson) Bollinger. Marilyn married Dwayne Orwig on January 30, 1956 in Springfield, IL. Dwayne preceded Marilyn in death on September 19, 1997.

Also preceding her are her parents, brother, Virgil Bollinger, 4 sisters, Donna Wehmeier, Hermenia Egbert, Inez Egbert and Betty Riebling, and son-in-law, Dale McCurdy.

Surviving are her 2 daughters, Rose McCurdy of Vermont, IL and Sue Anne (and Mark) Stoneking of Green Valley, IL, 2 sons, Danny (and Mary) Orwig of Havana, IL and Jon (and Lisa) Orwig of Ft. Madison, IA, 5 grandsons, Travis (and Niky Friday) McCurdy, Casey (and Brittney) Orwig, Nick (and Candyce) Orwig, Matt (and Jessica) Orwig, and Kyle Orwig, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandson, sister, Edna Miller of Rushville, IL, sister-in-law, Rita (and Bob) Hamm and brother-in-law, Loyd McCombs.

She was a homemaker who took very good care of her home and family.

Marilyn was a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ, both in Browning and later Astoria.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Astoria Church of Christ in Astoria. Pastor Eric Trone will be officiating. Interment will be in the Browning Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad or the Astoria Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home address at PO Box 525, Astoria, IL 61501.
