He was born July 15, 1946 in Lewistown, the son of Herbert and Doris (Bainter) Tippey. He married Pamela (Brooks) Tippey-Herrick on February 20, 1993 in Lewistown. She survives with four children, Kevin (Angie) Tippey of Petersburg, Nicholas Herrick of Ozona, Florida, Amaris “Amy” Tippey (Fiancé Mike Leahy) of Collinsville, and Amanda Herrick of Havana, two grandsons, Jack Tippey and Nolan Leahy, two brothers, Scott (Karen) Tippey of Lewistown, and Randy (Sindy) Tippey of Astoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry was a retired coal miner. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Lewistown American Legion. Larry loved his family, the Cardinals, his Harley motorcycle, and having coffee with friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
Cremation will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday September 5, 2025 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. A meal for family and friends will follow to gather and reminisce at the Lewistown VFW at 3:30pm. Those attending are invited to wear casual clothing, as Larry would have wanted everyone to feel at ease.
