Agnes was born on September 22, 1949, to Floyd E. and Mary J (Auer) Frank. She graduated from Brimfield High School in 1967 and went on to attend Flamingo Beauty College. On May 22, 1970, she married the love of her life, James W. Miles. Together they built a beautiful family and life filled with love, laughter, and hard work.
Agnes is survived by her husband, James; her children Jill (Jeff), Tim, Jody, and Scott; and her beloved grandchildren Miles, Payton, Grant, Cy, Ryan, and Bri. She is also survived by her grand dogs, Donovan, Leo J, and Moria Rose, who she absolutely adored. In addition, she leaves behind her sisters Mary (Mark) Wheeler, Kathy (Mike) Lalicker, and Nancy Henry, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Floyd Frank, and her sister Edna (Frank) Johnson.
Agnes worked tirelessly her entire life, and it seems fitting that she passed away on Labor Day. After completing beauty school, she held various jobs until joining LR Nelson in 1980, where she worked until her retirement in 2005. Retirement didn’t slow her down—she went on to two of her favorite roles where she became known as “Mama Miles”: at eServ, LLC and later at PALS Preschool, where she shared her love of cooking with both children and adults. She fully retired in 2015.
For more than 40 years, Agnes also sold Avon. Many will remember seeing her out delivering orders, always with extra supplies on hand, ready to offer a lipstick or lotion to anyone who stopped by.
Agnes’s greatest joy was her family. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome—whether it was a middle-of-the-night four-course meal after her kids and their friends returned from a night out, or a ride in her “Alkie Hauler” for anyone who needed to get home safe. She was famous for her bargain-hunting trips across Peoria with Jim, her fall caramel apples, her endless peanut butter bars for her grandsons’ football team, her sewing, gardening, and the love she poured into every dessert she baked for her bowling friends.
Even in her final years, as she lived with Alzheimer’s, she never forgot the names of her loved ones. She reminded her family often that she never had a favorite child or grandchild—she simply loved them all deeply and equally. Though her last months brought pain, her family takes comfort knowing she is now at peace and free of suffering.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Brimfield Library Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to OSF Hospice Care or the Alzheimer’s Association, so that others may be spared the long goodbye of this heartbreaking disease.
Agnes’s legacy will live on through her family, her generosity, her faithfulness, and the countless lives she touched.
