Smithfield- Richard R. Baldwin, 89, of Smithfield, went home with Jesus on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born on August 21, 1933 in Windsor, Illinois, a son of Corbin and Evelyn (Bowden) Baldwin. He married Harriet Jane Meyer on September 25, 1954 in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Kevin (Karen) Baldwin of Tennessee; Geneda Bauman of St. David, Illinois; Carol (John) Kurtenbach of Roberts, Illinois; six grandchildren, Joshua (Mandy) Wallick of Canton; Marcus (Melissa) Dams of Champaign; Serenity Wallick of St. David; Caressa Postin of Florida; Lakendra (Drew) DeRenzy of Canton; Clinton Baldwin of Tennessee; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Raymond Baldwin, five brothers, and four sisters.
Richard worked and retired from International Harvester after many years of service, he attended Smithfield Nazarene Church with his wife, Harriet, enjoyed welding art, painting and spending time with his loving family. Richard and his family will meet again in Heaven.
Per Richard’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Graveside service and burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield. Pastor Dean Potts will officiate. A gathering to celebrate the life of Richard will follow the burial, at the Smithfield Nazarene Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Smithfield Nazarene Church.
