Garnet Workman

Lewistown- Garnet Workman, 101, of Lewistown, passed away at 12:11 PM Friday December 10, 2021 at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.


She was born June 1, 1920 at rural Bardolph, the daughter of Sherman and Gertrude (Vaughn) Kruzan. She married Curtis Eldon Workman on December 31, 1945 at Lewistown. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Irene (the late Herbert) Beadles. Survivors include one nephew, Gale (the late Donna) Beadles of Lewistown, one niece, Connie (the late Richard) Lannery of Lewistown, five great nieces, Gina (Jerry) Ray, Carla (the late Brad) Fisher, Jill (Rick Paquin) Bates, Darcy Brannon, and Tracy (Justin) Brown, eight great great nieces and nephews, and seven great great great nieces and nephews.

Garnet resided in Lewistown her entire life and lived at Spoon River Towers for seven years. She was a resident at Graham Hospital Extended Care for the past eleven years. She loved to travel and had been to 32 states and several parts of Canada.

Garnet worked at the Lewistown Carnegie Library for over 20 years, and had also written and published a book named “Garden at Moon Towers”. She was a member of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown, Lewistown VFW Post 5001 Auxiliary, Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary, and the Lewistown Historical Society.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday December 16, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Brant Reed officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10-10:45 AM at Henry-Lange Memorial Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Street Christian Church, Lewistown Library, Lewistown VFW Auxiliary, or Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary.
