David G. Harper


David G. Harper, 78, of Ellisville, passed away at 6:45 PM on Friday, May 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 1, 1943 in Canton, a son of Alva “Bud” and Wilma J. (Strode) Harper. He married Carol Cooper on September 17, 1965 in Avon. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, April Chambers of Ellisville and Marion (Lori) Harper of Maquon; seven grandchildren, Emma, Carolyn, Haley, Aden, and Curtis Chambers, Jenna (Steven) Butler, and Jessa (Neal) Wickert; and one great-grandchild on the way.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

David worked and retired from International Harvester in Canton and Navistar in Springfield and Urbana, Ohio after over 30 years of service, and also, he was a true Farmer by heart, he enjoyed planting the seed to the soil and horses. He was a member of the Fiatt Christian Church, and was a trustee of Deerfield Township. He served his country in the United States Army. David was a people person, he loved to help others, he had the most love for his family, and his grandchildren, and was waiting to bounce the new great-grandbaby off his knee.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Wiley Cemetery in rural Ellisville. Special family friend, Kenneth Marvel will officiate.
